I have been using a
computer user since 1982. I had bought a Commodore 64 and its
whopping 160 kilobyte 1541 disk drive to hook up to my home TV.
Up until now I had put off 'upgrading'. I figured since I already
was the proud owner of one obsolete system there was no rush on
spending a goodly chunk of my yearly salary on another! Can you say? "Don't
look a gift horse in the mouth."!
I enjoy
messing around in the kitchen. I treat recipes as
mere templates. That way when the family says,
"This doesn't taste the same as the last
time." I just tell them I was trying out
something new!
My favourite
television chef James Barber's motto is
"Make do with that you got." I agree
with that idea. I cook for the fun of it. If it
doesn't taste like the one in the book, then
tough! The difference between using wine or using
apple juice won't ruin a dish. I'm not too sure
that I understand the fetish of authenticity. The
way I figure it if you want uniformity that you
might as well eat those capsules that George
Jetson eats!
My motto then would
have to be, "I never met a recipe that I couldn't
tweak!"
